Zen Buddhism Near Me

15 reviews of Zen Buddhist Temple 'The Zen Buddhism Temple will not give you a lecture on morality. It will not point you in the right direction. It will not pressure you for a commitment or ask for repentance. The temple is simple, and cold, and resources are sparse. But a visit to this might just restore your faith in humanity, and who can argue with that?' We are an international community with close to 100 locations world-wide. Please see the map below to find your closest Zen center, or visit our Regions page to find regional contact info. If you can't find a location near you, you may be able to join our Online Sangha.

We are an internationally renowned, fully accredited Zen Center located in the beautiful mountains of Southern California.

Yokoji provides a place for people from all walks of life to practice Zen Buddhism. There are many ways you can do this.

Every Sunday we run introductory classes in zazen (Zen meditation). Throughout the year there are events, often on weekends, which focus on various aspects of Zen practice. We hold sesshin Mac os x app. (silent meditation retreats) almost every month of the year, ranging from 2-7 days.

It is possible to stay at Yokoji for any period of time. You can join our residential training program and follow the schedule for a number of days, months or years. Overnight and weekend stays are also an option if you would like to join in with the programs that we offer. Check the events page for details.

Zen practice challenges our most cherished assumptions and leads to direct experience of our own inherent freedom. Located in Clearwater, Florida, our sangha was founded in the 1980's by Ken Rosen. Our teacher, Sensei Lawson Sachter studied Zen Buddhism for many years under Roshi Philip Kapleau at the Rochester Zen Center. Everyone interested in meditation, whether brand new, experienced in other traditions, or schooled in formal Zen, is welcome to join our practice. Please see our Getting Started page. Our weekly meetings are weekdays Monday-Thursday at 7am, Wednesdays nights at 7pm, Friday at noon, and Saturday mornings at 7am (see practice ).

Muddy Water Zen was formed to disseminate and propagate the Dharma, the teachings of Shakymuni Buddha, as recorded in the ancient scriptures, as interpreted and transmitted by the Ancestors, and as experienced personally. Zen Buddhism, with its emphasis on meditation, is a way of cultivating compassion and wisdom through radical acceptance of what is. Meditation becomes an awareness and mindfulness of all that is, moment-to-moment and an appreciation of life in all its manifestations.
